ART EXHIBITION

A locally themed art exhibition, organised by the Lions Club of Kingborough. Artists from the region are invited to display works that depict a Margate and/or Channel area theme. All pieces will be available for purchase, with net proceeds going to Kingborough Lions Club local community service projects. Contact Wynn Hansson Kingborough Lions Club 6267 9319.Margate Hall Friday 7.30pm through to Sunday.

BOWLS CLUB OPEN DAY

Kingborough Bowls Club invites you to participate in an Open Day. All equipment will be provided and members will show you the basics of the game. All you need to bring is a pair of flat soled shoes. Contact Ken Hunt 6229 5304. Kingborough Bowls Club Sunday 1-4pm

BRIDGE MOSAIC

A small group of local artists from the Kingborough District have designed a mosaic for the Sandfly /Margate bridge. The ribbon design that stretches 33 meters, reflects the journey from the Channel at North West Bay, to the hills of the hinterland. The spaces formed by the intersecting ribbon lines contain images portraying aspects of the history, the environment and the Margate community. 66,000 glass tiles will transform the cement structure into a vibrant gateway to the township.

BICYCLE RIDE AROUND MARGATE

D’Entrecasteaux Rotary will conducting Bike activities at Dru Point. Saturday 10am-3pm

CHANNEL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Watch a pavement artist at work and do your own drawings. Have a donkey ride. Munch on Olliebollen or the BBQ. Check out the environmental and historical displays.Saturday 10.00 am to 4.p.m.

CHILDRENS PROJECT

Upper Primary students from the 2 local schools will create a design on ceramic tiles using underglazes. After these have been glazed they will form the top of the bridge mosaic, giving the students the opportunity to have their artwork permanently displayed as part of this community project. The younger children will paint colourful flags that will be used to decorate the town during the project. Township of Margate All Weekend

COMBINED CHURCH SERVICE

The local Christian Churches invite everyone to join with them in celebration at 3.00pm One Way Christian Community Building Endeavour Avenue (off Beach Rd), Margate

CHILDREN’S SPEECH

If your child would like to read his or her favourite story, poem or original work in front of a small crowd with a microphone, take this opportunity. Friday Flappers will award a prize for the most entertaining, the most original and the best story on Margate. Must be between 3 and 5 mins. See the officials at the venue to enter. Brookfield Vineyard Sunday 3pm til finished.

COUNTRY WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION

The Margate Branch will demonstrate needlework skills and be available to answer any questions you may have. They are part of a world wide organisation which helps underprivileged people. Each Branch has its own social, educational and reaching skills program. Margate Branch meet in the local hall 2nd Mon. each month. Brookfield Vineyard 11am-2pm Saturday & Sunday
